I was thinking about this quote that night ~

“I remember riding a taxi one afternoon between very tall buildings under a mauve and rose sky; I began to bawl because I had everything I wanted and knew I would never be so happy again.”

– F. Scott Fitzgerald (after the release and consequent fame of This Side of Paradise, and marriage to Zelda two weeks later)

I really hope you enjoyed this somewhat incoherent collection of photos I’ve taken while I’ve been back home in San Diego for break.

This past Sunday, my dad and I went to the Louis Kahn exhibit currently on display at the San Diego Museum of Art. I really recommend going if you live in southern California and or are a bit of an architecture nerd like me/my dad (who is an architect). Kahn is well-known for his clean, geometric designs and concrete structures. The exhibit had really beautiful photographs of his work as well as a collection of his journals he kept in India.

Google ~ The Salk Institute, Kimbell Art Museum, Exeter Library, Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban, Four Freedoms Park ~ if you want to see some of his work ~ they didn’t allow photos in the exhibit so I only got a couple 😦

Music I’ve been listening to recently ~ mainly just The Doors this week

  1. That’s my wish. I’m dying to visit Cali. To be more specific, visiting San Francisco is one of my dreams. People always tell me that if I visit, I’ll miss the first flight back to Miami. I’ll stay in Cali. That’s not good 😒

  2. I was born in the old, navy hospital that was across the street from Balboa Park. I remember the flower children having love ins there sitting in a circle in the grass talking about all the hate in the world and hugging each other to show “make love, not war”. Up here in San Luis Obispo for the Christmas season. Great place! I didn’t win the Missouri Review writer’s contest. Need to make my way back to my birth city. Met some fabulous ladies up here. What’s an itinerant poet supposed to do?
